The significance of grass

Several days ago, I had a chat with a colleague of mine about grass. Yes, grass!

This vegetation has contributions in several aspects for people here in the UK. It is not just a paltry contribution as it run economics in the UK. Why is that so?

To answer that question, it is started from the fact there are studies and research about grass. It is clear then if one particular object is being researched it means that object has significance for life. But what the significance of grass?

Okay, we can list the significance of grass. We can start from a serious one; the study is important for animal husbandry. So it is reasonable to perform a research in this field. However, the massive study on this particular area is not related to husbandry but sport. Sport? Yes, sport!

Who does not know about Premier League? Actually, for the sake of this sport, research on grass or turf is really significant. We are not only entertained by the skill of players but also the atmosphere of the game. The atmosphere is influenced including by the sophisticated system of the soccer field and  the condition of turf. It is hardly to see tarnish or muddy field even when a game is held during rain or even winter. The situation more or less also influence the performance of the players.

However, horse racing gain most benefit from the studies on turf. It cannot be deny that, to some extent, economics in the UK is run by sports betting and horse racing is including the most important of all. To support this interest, it would be needed a variety of turf that can grow well. The turf should be fast growing as well as have strength as it would be trampled by horses.

Listen his description about turf, I was amazed. Something that in my eyes is invaluable, actually may give contribution more than I can imagine.

I also thinking, so many things in Indonesia that is consider insignificant may have values that still need to be discover. Means what? So many opportunities for research, business, and life.
